Doctors
WWW: Life is about accepting what is unacceptable. Life is about trying to make your dad understand why you trust your guy friends of 8 years.
"Cuddy said you should do it. You have got a gift. People thank you for telling them they’re going to die.’ -House vs.God
"Saying there appears to be embolism is like saying there’s a traffic jam ahead. Is it a ten-car pile-up, or just a really slow bus in the centre lane? And it is it is a bus, is that thrombotic or embolic? I think I pushed the metaphor too far." -Euphoria, Part 1
Yes, FANS of the series HOUSE M.D. unite!! ^_^
Here I am, in the com lab, surfing for info on Transurethral Resection of the Prostate so that I get my ‘embolic or thrombotic’ right in this case for my upcoming problem-based learning (PBL) session. While browsing through my friends’ blogs, it appears that michibun has been very much inspired by me to write a pharmacist-related post.
Here is an extract from her post, "The onli reason y I watch grey’s is for the story and the lurf story in between and…. So that I can be constantly reminded that I’m SOOOOOOOOO LUCKY, i’m NOT a doctor (*aHem* the barrel of brains)…and be HAPPY, GRATEFUL, JOYOUS coz I’m a pharmacist… coz if I were to b a doctor I’ll b like those ppl in grey’s…and in HOUSE…. No life…and then wad if sum1 die when I’m operating ..not fun…"
(dear michie, notice i CITE REFERENCE oh!! =P We hate citing reference as far as doing portfoli is concerned, it is WORSE than doing the portfolio itself! My dear readers, if you wish, you may enlighten yourself by finding out about Vancouver Convention, Harvard System and so on and so forth)
My dear doctors out there *wink* (this includes potential guys for ME who are going to be future doctors), please do not think that I am starting an anti-doctors-pharmacists-rock campaign here. I just wish to highlight the natures of our jobs for the benefit of some shallow unaware people out there.
I, for one, do look up on doctors and future doctors as well. I am talking about those guys/girls (ok for my case, more on GUYS since this is my experience) that can exude this sense of assertiveness by the words he speak to you (even though it is the first time I talk to him) and deliver this aura of caring, intelligent yet humble demeanour.
I shall tell you-yes, we should not judge people, but I always have impressions on people the first time I talk to them; most of the time, my impression, or rather, my instinct is RIGHT. ^_^ I do NOT care how many As you got in the previous exams, or how high your cgpa was.
The thing is, by justing talking to you, I can tell you intelligence, whether it is those thinking type, economist mind, einstein’s followers, eloquent type, or just mere I-am-so-good-in-memorising-so-i-get-good-grades-and-i-LOVE-to-use-foul-language type.
Sorry but the last type really turns me OFF and makes me really want to have this shield on my eyes and ears so that I ‘See no evil, hear no evil’.
Ok back to the topic. I look up to those future doctors (do allow me to use ‘HE’ here because so far, the ones that really sweep me by with their demeanour are a few ‘HE’s) because they really know what they are into.
They can bear the responsibility of doing wardrounds in future, of breaking the grief news to patients (I DO NOT think I can ever do this-me heart melts everytime I see pictures of suffering kids in papers), of TOUCHING patients from all walks of life (yes-they have to clean the wounds for patients at times too; if you are those who shudder at the mere sight of pus, blood or discharge, do NOT even think of becoming a doctor.)
Doctors and pharmacists are both healthcare profesionals who are expert in their respective fields. Do not dispute over who gets the lion share out of the healthcare field, let separate dispensing takes place for the benefit of everyone!
After all, dear doctors/future doctors, you do not have 3 arms and 3 eyes (heck, you won’t look leng chai anymore =P) to do ALL the things in the word. Let us pharmacists complement your goal in providing quality healthcare service to the people.
