How To Survive In Uni

WWW: It seems that I have not changed much ^_^  A friend whom I last met in STANDARD 6!!! could recognised me when we met in uni. It is a small world after all.

Having ‘been there, done that’ for 2 full semesters and currently in the 3rd semester, there are little things that I have noticed and would like to share with uni-goers out there, especially those in IMU or going to IMU.

1. Girls, when you walk up the ‘escalators’ (read: stairs since they only function on open days) with your high heels, kindly walk ELEGANTLY and GENTLY. Please do not clink and clank, especially when you are running down to get food.

When you walk up the stairs, gently bend your knees slightly (to 30 degrees….kidding la ok) and place the tip of your foot forward FIRST. then followed by the sole. That way, the noise is minimised.

When you walk down the stairs, gently bend your knees slightly again and place the SOLE of your foot (i.e. the back part) FIRST on the stairs, followed by the tip.

Do NOT look at your own feet when you are walking so that you are walking elegantly. Heels are meant to make us look elegant, NOT clumsy!!

If you can’t do as mentioned, please  STOP WEARING HEELS!! =P

2. If you know that there is only ONE pathetic cafeteria in your uni and lunch time is 12.45 p.m. for most of the intakes, go get your food BEFORE that, or you risk queuing up for LONG or eating leftover=( If you have not acquired the skills of eating in 10minutes like ME (ahem ^_^haha it is an improvement for I have been well-known to savour my food, in other words, I take damn long to finish my food), go ta pau BEFORE the rush hour!!

3. Please DO NOT be like me. In semester one, I was in the library wanting to borrow a book for the class test tomorrow. I WAS DUMB not to realise that all the books would have been snapped up by then; some people started to study as early as 2 weeks before!!

So you either pakat with your friend, as in when she returns, you go with her so that you can borrow the book; or you reserve the book online so that the nerd cannot renew the book which he/she has been hogging. =)

4. Always chill in the com lab like me=) or the library (read: looking for books for problem-based learning or portfolio AND using the com when I was supposed to be studying). That’s when and where I meet my fair share of decent, polite, potential guy friends who are a far cry from……..(shall not say out since it is sensitive.)^_^

5. Smile. A smile is a curve that makes everything straight. I do that to people who sit next to me in the com lab-that is how I know the other un-barred (at least at that time;sadly it is barred now) webmessenger *wink* from the guy sitting next to me. Meebo and iloveim were barred at that time and I had NO LIFE during my free time.

Of couse I am NOT always the taker. I was at the printer and this girl (new student) didn’t know that she had to bring her own papers butshe was in luck since she met a nice person like me. haha. After all, we help others, others help us; a good deed goes a long way-that is what I always believe in.

6. Pretend to be preoccupied by checking your handphone, ‘talking on the handphone’ or talking to your friend when you are passing by the flirtatious guard at the uni exit who can’t stop teasing girls.

‘bye bye..hati-hati ya.’

‘esok kamu mesti pakai semua pink tau!!’

‘morning…hello selamat pagi’

it is like you already smiled at first to acknowledged him yet he keeps harping on it so much so that today my gf was like shouting ’selamat pagi la!!’ haha and the guard was like ‘rilek (relax) la!!’
