The Activities

a) A Famosa Waterworld

On Friday, 3 cars full of bee-pharmers departed IMU at 10.00 a.m. Steph, michi, Yi Fen and Laura took the bus early morning as there wasn’t enough cars.

Zooming in to waterworld, it was around 12 plus when we reached there. I think. We paid RM 33 for the wet park INCLUDING a meal of chicken rice OR curry rice OR hotplate with a canned drink. Not cheap if you ask me. However, it was my first time being in a waterpark so I had fun =) yes, I am a local and I have NEVER been to sunway lagoon, and I am not ashamed to admit that. It is irony that we kl ppl have never been to KL tower (Me at least) yet we visited temples and attractions in penang and malacca that our fellow friends from there haven’t  visited and will not visit.

Mewaterworld

There was the wave pool, in which hoon hing lost his tee shirt despite him diving into it and searching frantically but in vain. We had to rent a tube at RM 10 (RM 5 to be refunded upon returing of tube). Then there was something called tube, whereby there is this slide you slide down in the rented tube. There were 2 types of slides-a covered one and a non-covered one. It was quite nice but can’t say it is exciting enough. The family ride, in which 3-4 people sit in a tube and slide down, is way more exciting. It is an added bonus if you are as lucky as I think fay jin and friends coz the Malay guy knew how to manouevre the tube and they really had a blast.

As for shin yee, laura and I who were in the tube, we had our fair share of ’syokness’ when the tube dashed down rapidly and then curved up. I for one, didn’t think that it could be quite thrilling as there were 3 people in a tube instead of one. Next on is some water slide whereby you just slide down without a tube. A warm-up to the upcoming High Speed of 90 degree Free Fall, if you ask me.

Being me (who did parasailing in penang though was initially scared, went for lethal weapon-a thrill ride with 360 degrees turn in Movie World, Gold Coast back then in Form 2), I decided to pluck my courage and try on either the high speed or Free fall. The free fall is a water slide whereby you slide horizontally at first before plunging 90 degrees straight down. I was up there after climbing many steps of fear-inducing stairs. I was deciding which one to go, and stepped towards the High Speed (less scary than Free Fall) when the rest of the B105 down there cheered me on to try the Free Fall. With that, I did something that I thought I woudn’t dare, screaming at the top of my lungs and closing my eyes THROUGHOUT the whole ride. I dared not open my eyes when I was free-falling. Really.

Cute_steph

From left: steph, sin qi (both are my =) lab partners) and michelee. Steph looks so cute in this pic!It was snapped offguard.

The people who took bus came later and we chilled around (read: getting bored) while they went on to play. It was raining but luckily it stopped after a while so that michibun and all could indulge in the rides. Michibun said the Free Fall and high Speed was ‘Nothing’ since the day before she tried on all the thrill rides in Genting. ^_^

b) Shopping at Jonker’s Street

On Saturday afternoon, we walked along Jonker’s Street after eating chicken ball rice (which I will review further upon getting the pics). I didn’t know malacca is famous for pineapple tarts until then. I saw many shops in Jonker Street selling ‘freshly made’ pineapple tarts (which I LOVE!!) with the claimed home-made jam. I bought one box at RM 10 which is pretty cheap (since in KL you get slaughted at Rm 14 and above for a tin of cookies).

It was the aroma that beckoned me to get it when I was buying gula melaka in the shop next to the pineapple tart shop. I should have  bought MORe since my family finished it in a day.(but then again, I wouldn’t have enough money to get my love-at-first-sight skirt from Jonker Street). Now I know what to ask my malacca friends to help me get next time. *nudge and wink* ahem. ahem, steph and sin qi.*

Ship_1

From left: Carol, Irene, Fay Jin, Sin Qi, Me

We entered the Samudera Museum, whereby adults paid RM 3 and kids have to pay RM1. Sorrie I lied, that was what carol asked me to. hehe. We went to camwhored while waiting for the others to finish with their shopping at the craft gallery opposite this ship. It was a scorching hot day and we did not have interest to cross the street to the ship, let alone enter the museum. However, steph said that I am given the honourable task of blogging so the whole lot of us sacrificed in the name of blog.

c) The Birthday Party

Bday_2

Happy Birthday steph!!

Cake_3

Steph’s yummy, to-die-for, heavenly choc cake specially ordered from Renaissance Hotel!! The chocs are just nice, not too sweet and not too filling. The cake is neither too moist nor too dry. =) Perfect. There’s another cake whose pic I failed to upload, but there is a story behind it, as related to us by her mum.

Once upon a time, there was a girl called steph who refused to give up her pacifier even when she was 5. Her mum decided to put a stop to it, so she threw the pacifier to dog’s poo in front of steph. At night, steph cried and kept bugging her mum for her pacifier. Her mum told her that it is dirty since there is dog’s poo. Steph said, ‘(not her exact words) it’s ok, wash already can still eat.’ Eww. *grin* So her mum custom made another cake with the pic of a BIG PACIFIER!

d) Bowling and Midnight Show

We went to Mahkota Parade just opposite our hotel after steph’s party for bowling and midnight show. The bowling cost Rm 4.50 per game, plus shoes is Rm 5.50. Michi, I didn’t get tinea pedis because of certain decision I made *insider’s joke*. After so long for not bowling, I am quite happy to get 71,hehe. But Laura was the queen, she got strikes and some spares, can’t remember her score. And michi will not be pleased if I don’t mention that she was the 2nd highest among 5 of us who played. Later on, we watched Happy Feet instead of the intended Casino Royale because it was sold out. Happy Feet is cute!! I like the music too. What is your heartsong?

e) Pubbing

Cocktails_3

From Left: Sin Qi, Sze Ni, Kher Li, Bavani, Me-Drinking ‘Sweet Child Not Mine’ (lychee cocktail) and ‘Acid’ (soda +lime)

Michi_and_i

Me and Michelle.

The place is called Clan Club (right steph?), the atmosphere is good-reminds me of some place I have been to in bangsar. However, I was really UNDERDRESSED coz I didn’t know we were going there. You just can’t tell because the pic is waist up. At least it is not a clubbing place.

f) Eating

Food Review

Chick_rice_balls

Chicken ball rice. It is your Hainanese Chicken Rice with the rice shaped into balls by a machine. Personally I think the rice is a bit bland but otherwise it is good. Some people smashed the balls up into rice…*to think that we are supposed to be eating rice balls*

Satay_celup

Satay Celup. I really thought it was satay-turned out to be ‘Lok Lok’. You choose whatever you want (meatballs, cuttlefish, fishballs, fishcakes, crabsticks, bird’s eggs, vegie *eww*, tofu, hot dogs, ham..) and dip them into the hot boiling satay sauce. I prefer normal satay actually. The sauce is boiling hot (as in panas) and spicy, so being a not-so-good-spicy-food eater, I can’t really taste the authenticity of the sauce.

Grp_celup

Group pic!!

There is another place where we ate satay babi and chicken satay!! =) The satays are salty in nature in contrary to the usual ’sweet’ satays we ate. The meats are not succulent (i.e. meaty) enough for me, but overall, it is a must-try. After all, where do you get satay babi??

We had satay AGAIN in steph’ s party so the outcome of malacca trip: Bphamers have a phobia for satay, especially satay celup!!

For more pics, ask from steph. I suggested that she upload the pics on photobucket for us to grab=) I cannot possibly upload all here because friendster limits me to a number of pics per month. Overall, I enjoyed the trip, and it is indeed true that you can know a person better in a 3-day trip than 3 months in uni.
