May All Your Wishes Come True
That is the most common messages that we all get on our birthdays, don’t we? That is exactly the cliched line that all my friends told me yesterday ^_^ Cliched as it may be, I still like to hear it, just like who will ever get sick of listening to ‘I love you’?
I thought that there wouldn’t be any celebration but then things happened otherwise. Dad asked me if I want a cake on the way back and I said ,’why not since sis they all can eat too.’ In my heart I was like, ‘Ofcuz I want la!! I have never had a bday with no cake and no candles blown=)’ I am a sentimental person. My mum said I am an idealist and worships romaticism but I denied.=P
So back home, mum suggested that we go out for dinner since she wants to take a break and there is not much ingredients left for dinner. There is chicken which we had the night before. All my sis were so supportive of going to Bar B Q Plaza in one u, and they all looked at me in a God-like manner. hehe. That is just a metaphor, I am so little compared to the Almighty God (I am not a Christian, but I do believe there is a ‘All-powerful being up there’).
So I said yes though dad was concerned that I had to study. I didn’t want to prick everyone’s bubble and I also want to have something on my birthday. Plus, it is a rare occasion that my mum AND sisterS all agree to ONE idea so fast, usually it takes like some lengthy discussion when we want to go out for a meal, from the price of the food, the waiting time to the type of food and the place…Dad wasn’t too keen on BBQ but then the birthday girl won. =)
It would be a new thing if you have never experienced the ‘joy’ and ‘thrills’my cutie sisters yvonne and serene had when they place the bacon/sirloin/beef onto the copper hot plate and seeing them turned from red to brown. I am not impressed with their ‘custom-made’ sauce that they pride themselves in. it is like chee cheong fun sauce with a tinge of spiciness–I think given time, I can concoct something more impressive than that.*grin*
However, I did enjoy myself though I wished the waitress could like take care of the cooking, like how things were done in the CHUN korean place Han Kwok Kwan that I had my first korean BBQ. That cost me a serious BOMB but I just LOVE that beef. Heavenly^_^ *drools* So this place is quite reasonable with quite nice ambience if you go with a bunch of friends. But if you people are meeting up after a long time, I won’t recommend the place coz you will be so busy taking care of the food that you don’t have time to talk. For couples or more importantly, couples-soon-to-be, this place ain’t ideal either because you won’t have time to gaze into each other’s eyes. That is solely my opinion coz majority of them were couples in that place yesterday. And one did some erm..interesting act (read: camwhoring and public display of affection, known as PDA) that my 2nd sis spotted and showed disgust. haha. This is a democratic society after all, dear sis =P So if you ask me, Chilis, Italiannies or Paddington Pancake (which I haven’t been to) are the ideal place with the right food and right ambience..hehe can’t say the same for the $$$ factor.
So yeah after that I went home with a super strong will to study as I only touched 3 notes in the afternoon after a much-needed nap sleep. However, a few people started smsing so I was busy replying smses since I am a nice person I enjoy ‘talking’ to my friends. Later on, I got a call all the way from HK from yeeket who refused to say ‘Happy Birthday’ until the time we wanted to hang up. Sorry I had to cut short the conversation (to 20 mins btw, which is long in my parents’ definition) because I desperately needed to study.
Later on, shin called me after I hinted her in my replied sms–’what day is today?’ coz that busy girl just came back from an expedition to Gunung Ledanga and she is so exhausted that she lost track of dates. ^_^ I am not at all offended dear shin=) u just have to make up after my exams by dating me!! =P
Later at night, I was diligently studying pharmaceutics when my hp rang. I saw the number and thought it was yeeket again. When I picked up the hp, I was like ‘hey yeeket again..’ and the guy on the other end of the receiver said, ‘You know who this is or not? Chee Wei ah’ ^_^ U know before that I was thinking,’ will ling call? will sara call? will chee wei called like he promised?’ I really was thinking of that though I do not expect anything since they are all so busy with studies. ^_^ So yeah, chee wei’s call was a pleasant surprise, expecially at 1.40 a.m. since he had to get my number from his old hp after he reached home. Yk’s call wasn’t so much of a surprise coz he told me on friendster that he would call.
Thanks again to ALL OF YOU who wished me and made my day!! I miss talking to my old friends and listening to their voices.
By the way, you would have noticed that I didn’t mention about blowing a birthday cake. That is because, I didn’t have one–sisters weren’t keen on eating cakes since we had carrot and choc cakes from our piano teacher. So yeah, I didn’t get to officially make wishes by blowing candles. But I am still a happy birthday girl. *Hugs*
