Public Declaration

What are you doing now?

Are you looking at it too?

At the sky, dyed orange

By the setting sun that’s becoming the morning sun.

The night when we cried,

Both of us shedding our tears,

The days we laughed until morning,

Having pointless conversations,

I won’t forget either of them.

They are treasures that anchor me as I am now.

I feel it even when we are apart

Your kindness,

So no matter where I go,

I am not alone.

No matter what happens,

I am not crushed.

The sky and the sea met,

And like the islands,

Even if we are apart,

We are blended gently with the same colour.

Hey, we have a close bond..

Softly putting a hand over my heart,

On nights when I can’t sleep.

We’ll meet again in my dreams,

I can hear a lullaby.

Our bond pushes me on.

What are you doing now?
Are you seeing it too?

The rain has stopped,

An arch hangs in the sky,

We are connected by a rainbow,

You and I.

This song, Kizuna (’bonds’), which is a theme song from my much-loved jap drama, Ima Ai NiYukimasu, is dedicated to my evergreen mc friends who have always been there.

My mum was saying how it was like the first time she met her best friend for life in college. Coupled with the heart-warming tag by Foong jin, memories of yesteryears flooded back to my mind…

It was the first week of school (NOT first day, I am sure) when I notice this girl who seems really friendly. I wanted to find a chance to get know of her but somehow it didn’t come until the zipper incident. Not going to elaborate here but then later on we started hanging out and little did we know that we will become best of friends. The girl was Kae Shin.

In Homescience club (the dreadful days of being cheap labour to Narendra, mcians, remember that?), I met this girl from L class, Ow Mun Waei. Somehow, we started to say hi more to each other though we were in different classes. It was only till form 2 when she came to M class and sat besides me during maths that we got really close. So close talkative that Ms. Ang threatened to change our places if we didn’t watch our behaviours. lol.

I cannot remember how I met her. She was in C class then. It must be the fact that we started to bond more during Homescience club. But the determinant was form 4 Japan trip, whereby we became partner and stayed together with the same host. She is one sincere best friend that I have even known- May Ling.

Back then in Form 1, Sam sat next to me. She and Anna will keep printing out stuff they find interesting on net and shared with us. I still remember anna as the girl who always skipped meals and she would go around carrying a story book. Later on in our secondary school years, she stopped doing that because the whole mc gang had much to talk about during breaks and lunch.

Another girl was always talkative and I looked up to her for writing superb essays. Even Mrs. Moore praised her on her writing skills. How I wished I could write so well like her! We didn’t get to know each other much, much better until we were in the same set teaching in Form 4 and 5. The girl must be reading this and blushing now, right? Ng Foong Jin!! =P

Thanks to all my evergreen friends, a lot whom I cannot afford to feature here because I need to ciao now for my youngest sis to ‘O 2 Jam’. hehe.
