Gasing

In this age where DOTA and War of the Worlds prevail, we urban ppl barely know the tradiational games. Remember how your dad or your grandpa used to tell you about their ‘victory’ in gasing games back in the kampung? Well, come experience your second childhood with us =)

IMUians, especially my friends, please come and support us!! My friend, Jason and I are the leaders of this interactive workshop and we really hope it will be a success!! We need your participation!! This is entirely educational and not so much on profit-making-we have forked out $$$ to organise the workshop.

This project is our Malaysian Studies assessment as we are NOT going to sit for paper *so DO NOT want to* So your presence will be greatly appreciated. You have nothing to lose, after all, it is FREE!*

Get to know new friends =) and have fun yourself on 13 April too!! The workshop facilitators will be dressed in tradiational clothes.

*Disclaimer: The henna tattoo, as stated above, will be charged at a reasonable price to help us cover our cost. Activities are subjected to change.

Facebook

Sunday, March 18th, 2007

Does getting into a hectic course suck up all the creativity from you? Gosh, I hope not!! Lately, I haven’t been blogging much as I used to; it is a good sign since it means I am not spending unneccesary amount of time on something that will be placed in archive. However, it also means that I have not been putting my thoughts down, that is, if I had the time to think, to start with.

Blogging is my way of expressing myself and speaking out my mind. It also serves to connect my dear friends out there who are scattered all over the world. However, how open can one be in a blog without being judged by other people? How far can you write about your feelings without the so-called friends in your friendster prying into your private life when they have no interaction with you in person?

I am quite sick of unknown people adding my on friendster and not making any effort to intro. Let me rephrase that, I am sick of unknown people who have no mutual friends with me, adding me on friendster and bombarding me with Qs like ‘are you local?’ ,’ where are you studying?’ and etc.

People who keep adding ‘friends’ to their list just to show their popularity are so fake. I hate that but since friendster has evolved to this extent, I just leave the rubbish be.

I have signed in to facebook and I hereby urge my MC friends, HELP friends and IMU friends who are actually MY FRIENDS to join facebook and add me there too!! I am not really familiar with the functions in facebook but the fact that you can add unlimited no. of photos beat frienster FLAT! Then you get to see how you are linked up with another person etc…

I would love to keep facebook as my personal, private network with friends so I hope it won’t evolve to be a rubbishful of ‘friend list’ like friendster!

IMUians MUST read this!

Wednesday, March 7th, 2007

If you a non-IMUian and are reading this, you are welcome! For IMUians and non-IMUians alike, your creative juices and opinions really matter to me!! Even telling us what you will NOT be interested in will help too. Thanks a lot for your time!

I am in Malaysian studies (yalar, I got exemption but later on don’t know what’s wrong with me I wanted to do this instead of English. But then again, the english they teach is so elimentary that it is boring. My LAN classes are actually quite interesting thanks to the lecturer who shares her views with us and understands our plight as a student) and we are having a cultural event on 13th april- it is counted as our accessment-see my point? we don’t have to memorize lecture notes and sit for a paper. Enough of papers!!

I am in charge of workshop- something the committee came up with, they envision an exhibition cum workshop which is interactive, interesting but not cost-consuming.

Tell me, what does it mean to you to be a Malaysian?

That is what our workshop must reflect.

Actually, somehow we still go back to the culture and games of individual race. What we have thought of so far, as a rough guide is:

-bamboo dancing game

-batik painting (I wonder how far it will attract uni students though)

-showcase of the wedding ceremony of 3 races (but this involved a lot of cost; if not you will get to attend my ‘wedding’)

-henna painting

I personally think Mahjong is the best of all, but then due to the controversy, I don’t think we are allowed to organise a game of mahjong *sob* so we have to make do with congkak…. (other traditional games or games that reflect malaysian’s culture)

I really need ideas, especially more ideas on the culture of other races!! Furthermore, we seem to ‘clash ideas’ with the International Cultural Week ppl, so your feedback is greatly appreciated!

THanks for your comment =) Bphamers, if you are reading this, Bangunlah! sedarlah! Insaflah! *insider’s joke*
